Fishing in terms of trophy fish has been good, despite mediocre water levels in all rivers. Except over the water falls on the Unini river, water levels are still high. A total of 2.527 fish were landed by 42 anglers, 174 of which were in the 12 - 18 lbs. class, 8 were 19 lbs., 3 were 20 lbs., 1 was 21 lbs. and 1 was 26 lbs.
Last week 4.154 were landed by 32 anglers, of which 295 were in the 12-18 lbs. class, 17 were 19 lbs. class, 1 were 21 lbs., 1 was 22 lbs. and 1 was 23 lbs.
Please note the large amount of 19 pounders. These are honest trophy weight classifications. There is a growing tendency among others outfitters to “transfer” the 17-19 trophies in the 20 lbs. category. Moreover, there is also a growing tendency among others outfitters to troll, instead of cast, for trophy fish which is not necessary in our remote low fishing pressure areas.

Fishing has been very good, in 3 ½ days
504 fish were landed by only five anglers.
Because of very low waters on the Marmelos and Ipixuna
Indian Reserve, we are moving Fly-In Floating Cabins
to the headwaters of the Matupiri Indian Reserve.
Fishing has continued to be good in terms of quantities. Large fish are nesting; however, anglers are satisfied since most of them are fly fishing and, are not after trophy fish.

Attached you will find the Mid-Week
Fishing Report for the last 3 and a half fishing days
on the Marmelos Indian reserve. Although waters are
quite low, fishing continues to be good.
Water levels are extremely low. If it weren’t
for the daily mobility of the low drafting Fly-in Cabin
Barges, fishing would be almost impossible.
Last week’s party of only six anglers landed a total 1.230 peacocks, 4 of which were 19 lbs. The previous two weeks were respectively 1.872 fish for 8 anglers and 1.642 for 6 anglers.
